Job Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Graphic Designer (Exhibitions) and relevant museum departments to understand the design requirements for various projects;
- Work closely with the Graphic Designer (Exhibitions) to assist in setting the graphic direction for exhibitions and programmes, simultaneously working with various internal and external teams, where relevant;
- With direction and support from the Graphic Designer (Exhibitions) where needed research content and develop creative proposals and art directions for graphics required for diverse projects across exhibitions, programmes and the museum. Deliverables may include digital and physical assets such as signage, large-scale exhibition graphics, directional signage, brochures, publications, handouts, website and social media assets etc.;
- Support Graphic Designer (Exhibitions) and Senior Management including the Vice President, Directors and relevant museum departments in designing presentation decks and other materials as required;
- Assist in liaising with Design and Build companies in conceptualising and executing exhibition narratives and content presentation which require design solutions (i.e. develop text hierarchy) to provide a cohesive visitor experience;
- Assist in coordinating approvals for final designs to ensure all final artworks are aligned with its initial brief and are in line with museum standards and the Museum’s brand identity;
- Assist in monitoring and ensuring timely production and delivery of graphics, liaising with external contracted companies and assist with on-site installations as necessary;
- Work with respective internal and external project managers to oversee the graphics for the museum’s marketing collaterals across digital and physical platforms when necessary;
- Ensure that all graphics are in line with the exhibition and programme’s set identity and adhere to the museum’s brand guidelines;
- Assist project managers with updates and improvements to ArtScience Museum website when necessary;
Job Requirements
Education & Certification
- Diploma or degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications or related field preferred
Experience
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in graphic design for museum, gallery space, design studio or agency
- Minimum 3 years’ proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (specifically in Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop)
Other Prerequisites
- Must have strong art direction, design and conceptual abilities
- Able to take creative direction and turn work around quickly to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work on more than one project simultaneously, efficiently, resourcefully and manage projects
- Ability to prepare appropriate working files for digital/print production
- A well-spoken individual with strong pitching and presentation skills
- Able to work independently and be a team player
- Ability to make decisions and accept responsibility
- Excellent organisation skills and impeccable attention to detail
- Basic knowledge in website design
- Interest in marketing strategies and using design to better reach out to targeted audiences for exhibitions and programmes

The Junior Graphic Designer sits within the PEMS team and reports to the Graphic Designer, Exhibitions. The post holder is responsible for helping to shape the graphic identity for exhibitions and programmes, supporting the delivery of visual design materials, and will be engaged in all aspects of the design process, including its development, production, and installation. This includes graphics, printed materials, and other deliverables for the museum's public-facing work. Apart from conceptualising and developing some of the Museum’s visuals, the post holder is also a brand keeper, ensuring that all graphics created and distributed are in line with the museum’s guidelines and brand identity. Furthermore, the post holder assists the internal museum team in overseeing marketing materials when necessary.
The Junior Graphic Designer is required to work on more than one project simultaneously with minimum supervision, and to engage with various teams at ArtScience Museum. Therefore, it is necessary to be able to communicate and collaborate easily and effectively within the internal Museum structure and Marina Bay Sands more broadly, as well as with external companies contracted for the delivery of exhibitions, programmes and the museum’s public-facing work. As such, the Junior Graphic Designer must be self-motivated, focused, organised, creative, rigorous and a good team-worker. |
