Summary of Job Responsibilities

  • Assist the Manager & Senior Manager in up keeping, monitoring and maintaining of all Landscape, Horticulture and Pest Control related maintenance to ensure that the property is always kept in the highest standards & performance.


Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct on-site checks and repairs on irrigation system.
  • Conduct site inspection with Pest control specialists on area with pest infestation and manage the pest control vendor and their activities to a high standard so as to keep the premises free of infestation.
  • Responsible to work with Stakeholders or end users on pest related feedbacks and follow up on action plan.
  • Ensure quality works are be carried out based on SOPs, Guidelines, and Standards.
  • Responsible to ensure compliance of WSH guidelines and standards.
  • Perform ad-hoc tasks as required, including assisting other facilities department team members
  • Inventory stock check.
  • Able to operate irrigation controller, replacement of leaking pipes, solenoid valves, irrigation drip lines, checking of water pressure.
  • Responsible for any faults and defects reporting for landscape.
  • Responsible for all field operations and coordination with contractor on day to day work scopes.
  • Responsible for Maximo work order status.
  • Responsible for procuring of supplies through Ariba and keeping track of expenditure budgets.
  • Responsible to develop and establish ground maintenance strategies, maintenance solutions, processes.
  • Responsible to work with and provide precise instructions to contractors.
  • Responsible to set measurable performance targets and reporting strategies in conjunction with a Service Level Agreement.
  • Responsible to improve the aesthetic appeal of the existing landscape to complement existing architecture and ensure longevity of the plants.
  • Responsible to conduct check of tree’s health and recommend mitigation to risk.
  • Responsible to plan for budgetary expenses.
  • Responsible to work out source request and conduct site show round to contractors on project tendering or contract tendering.


Technical Competencies 

  • Ability to evaluate architectural and landscape designs from a horticultural perspective with a view to determine the horticultural impact.
  • Knowledge & experience in health assessment of landscape & trees, & use of chemicals.
  • Knowledge on soil and media as well as drainage requirements in the implementation of maintenance programs & projects.
  • Knowledge on tree & plants selection for landscape and recommending alternatives for unavailable and unsuitable species.
  • Design tree & plants care plans and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for landscape maintenance
  • Knowledge of pump operation & piping hydraulic, irrigation & drainage systems and equipment maintenance.
  • Monitor the day to day work progress of all defect’s rectification; identify any equipment defect, and review the corrective actions required immediately.
  • Review Maximo data to identify areas of improvements & productivity
  • Creating SOPs
  • Responsible for implementing and enforcing safe work practices based on the Risk Assessment
  • Be willing to work any day of the week and any shift, long hours when necessary


Functional Competencies 

  • Work closely and liaise with all departments & business units in property on project and maintenance coordination to minimize disruption
  • Assist in planning & strategized the maintenance regime and ensure all jobs are correctly and properly achieved within standards & SOPs.
  • Conduct regular meetings and coordinate with the maintenance contractor to resolve and improve the service level of relevant systems.
  • Review resource, labor, and inventories including all essential equipment, tools, spares and supplies for the team and ensure that proper spares and supplies inventory are kept and updated regularly.
  • 24/7 stand-by for emergency call outs and performing of weekend facilities duty executive
  • Conducting of performance appraisal of all team members under supervision
  • Manage & conduct Vendor performance review & provide a report together with appropriate recommendation to the senior management
  • Perform all duties in accordance with company policies and within the realm of the company vision, mission and values
  • Ensure that all essential records of landscape, pest control maintenance, replacement sanitizing or rectification works are documented properly and stored
  • Drive adherence to established safety standards and protocol for horticulture & pest control implementation and maintenance.
  • Perform ad-hoc tasks as required
  • Execute strong attention to details
  • Able to perform and work under pressure.
  • Ensure that watering and irrigation systems are functioning correctly, managing controllers and irrigation times and zones and ensure that subcontractors are fulfilling the roles that are required.
  • Conduct regular meetings with the landscape team, irrigation maintenance team to determine any problem areas, and seek suggestions from the team. Identify potential problem areas and take remedial steps.


Leadership Competencies 

  • Provide leadership, supervision & guidance to a team of technicians to deliver quality up-keeping of all landscape & Pest control related areas for the entire MBS complex
  • Demonstrate good organizational and leadership ability.
  • Planning, detailing, reviewing and assessing of manpower, materials, tools and equipment, special services required for the job.
  • Enforce & implement all safety programs and training with regards to WSH
  • Provide, review & conduct training and orientation programs for Team Members.
  • Continuously pursue to better and improve skills through on the job or external training.
  • Ensure compliance for direct report performing their duties in Casino & areas that is zone as casino boundaries.
  • Project Management functions & skillsets, includes project set up, preparation of scope of work, resource & scheduling management.
  • Able to resolve conflicts and manage grievances in the landscape team.




Education & Certification

  • Relevant Employment Certificate or Work Testimony
  • Diploma in Horticulture or Bachelor's degree in Horticulture / Arboriculture.
  • Meet the attendance guidelines of the job and adhere to Departmental and Company policies



  • At least five years of solid hands-on practical working as a landscape and irrigation technician.
  • Have the knowledge on the application of horticultural chemical and pesticide
  • Preferably experience working outdoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to fatigue, noise, dust, and be able to access all areas of the property including those at height
