Senior Engineer (Telecoms, IT)

JOB SCOPE

  • Reporting to the Manager & assists the Lead Engineer with the day to day operation of Telecom Services
  • Create and optimize established processes used by the team and participate in regular process reviews
  • Perform surveys and coverage walk-tests to collect and analyse 3G/4G/5G data
  • Prepares mobile signal coverage heat map and detailed analysis report
  • Manage Telco provider and its vendors in the maintenance and support of CAS and other related RF equipment
  • Review and evaluate technical proposals from vendors
  • Activate escalation procedures to key support partners as/when required in a timely manner
  • Coordinate & participate in quarterly preventative maintenance activities for CAS and other telephony systems
  • Provide reporting/metrics in relation to related Telecom system as/when required
  • Participate in Disaster Recovery exercises annually
  • Maintain service standards defined in OLA/SLA
  • Ticket management (incident, service request & change) for Telecom systems queues
  • Respond to incidents following the standard incident response procedure & assist with resolution
  • Telecom equipment configuration & management
  • Responsible for ensuring the timely process through which problems are controlled
  • Follows established guidelines for escalating problems to the proper and/or more experienced personnel
  • Be the lead in key Projects and Operational issues
  • Maintain up to date Telecom System & Services documentation
  • Perform additional Telecom related duties as assigned

 

 

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • Degree in Telecommunications or related Technology curriculum preferred
  • Equivalent experience within technical telecommunications field may be considered in lieu of a degree

Certification

  • Certified Telecommunications Network Specialist (CTNS) certification preferred
  • ITIL
  • Other Radio/IP Telephony related certification would be a bonus

Required Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in supporting wireless telecommunication system
  • Experience in 24x7 environment with on-call responsibilities
  • Experience working in a high-pressure environment
  • Experience supporting, maintaining and troubleshooting combined antenna system
  • Experience in project management
  • Understanding of Disaster Recovery and High Availability
  • Experience in highly virtual environments
  • Analytical, problem solving, organizational, and planning skills.

Skills & Abilities

  • Proficient in using Nemo Handy handheld test tool and Nemo analyser
  • Ability to interpret and analyse RF parameters
  • Good working knowledge in RF/wireless system design and protocols
  • Ability to read and interpret RF schematic and system block diagrams
  • Ability to read and interpret building floor plan layouts
  • Good written & oral communication skills
  • Strong documentation and service management skills
  • Ability to apply good organizational and problem solving skills and work well under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Organized and detail-oriented
  • Ability to demonstrate the following values in carrying out its duties: integrity, respect, passion, teamwork and creativity
  • Able to walk at least three flights of stairs and climb ladders, good manual dexterity and vision
  • Knowledge in using Site Master Cable and Antenna Analyser
